Best Practices: Content

Best Practices: Content

Our content must always be up-to-date and accurate. Even if your dates are correct and your information is well-ordered, the way you write a web page, article, brochure, etc. can significantly influence accuracy. We must achieve the highest possible accuracy for all College of Design content; therefore the following standards must be met.

In addition to the resources on this page, Georgia Tech has released guidance for the general brand voice of the Institute that we encourage everyone on the College team to read through throroughly.

College Writing Standards

All content within the College of Design digital footprint must meet the College writing standards. These standards are based on the Institute's writing standards and focus chiefly on simple sentence structure, brevity, directness, and AP Style.

When In Doubt

Got writer's block? Having trouble translating faculty-speak into content for a broad audience? Can't get your feature module word count down no matter how hard you try?

Time is critical for our work, and these types of challenges can make or break a deadline.

When you're having trouble creating content, reach out to the Director of Communications. Ann's entire career is built on producing/writing for websites. She can help you out of a tricky spot based on years of experience. Or, she may recognize that the problem you're having is actually a College-wide problem -- and it might need to be addressed in a larger capacity.
